2500 solar panels installed in the student area in Valla

Irrblosset is a student area in Valla with approximately 800 student apartments. Now, 2500 solar panels have been installed on the roofs in the area. The panels will generate 800,000 kWh – which is equivalent to household electricity for about 500 student apartments.

Stångåstaden is heavily investing in increasing the share of renewable energy to reduce its carbon footprint. Presently, there are about 20 installations with solar cells around Linköping, and the plan is to expand further. The latest initiative in Valla means that electricity generated from solar panels accounts for approximately 5% of Stångåstaden’s total electricity consumption. Together with significant investments made in wind power, Stångåstaden generates renewable energy equivalent to all of the company’s property electricity.
